Joseph F. Engleberger, "Father of Robotics", has Passed

Responsible for the birth of the robotics industry, Engelberger was an American physicist, engineer, and business man whose innovative contributions revolutionized manufacturing and society. The Unimate, one of Engelberger's greatest creations, was the very first industrial robot. It worked on a General Motors assembly line at the Inland Fisher Guide Plant in Ewing Township, NJ in 1961.  It has left a living legacy in an industry to which it gave birth.
